Don't Feed the Goat: Bio

Don't Feed the Goat, a project lead by singer/songwriter Steve Goodman, was born in the fall of 1990 at the University of Illinois as a vehicle for Steve and friends to record covers and original songs on a 4-track cassette recorder.

The name of the band was taken from a story told by Bernie Works, a professor of technical theatre. The song Don't Feed the Goat is based on that story.

As Steve and his music have matured and moved around, the name has remained the same, though increasingly Don't Feed the Goat has become a solo project.

Don't Feed the Goat has performed across the Midwest, in Urbana, Illinois, Minneapolis, and the Mideast throughout Israel, including a live studio performance on the now defunct Radio West in Jerusalem.

Born and raised in Chicago, Steve lives in Zichron Yaakov, near Haifa, Israel.

The debut CD, Even Though Street, was released in 2009.

Although Steve is a singer/songwriter from Chicago, he is not the same Steve Goodman from Chicago who wrote such famous songs as "The City of New Orleans," though he does love to sing it. However, people that enjoy the elder Steve's songs usually enjoy the younger's.
