Laughing at the Blue Sky

Words and music by Phil Karp

A couple of friends, a few of their tricks
Heading on down to the water hole to mix.
Heat of the sun, everybody's game,
Everyone goes; every Sunday it's the same.

Chorus:
Laughing at the blue sky, looking at you,
Screaming at the sunshine, enjoying the view.
Bleeding bottles dry in the midafternoon,
Nothing too heavy, not a minute too soon.

This is your third; you know you're on your way,
And everyone's gleaming through an alcoholic haze.
Now the trick is to stay exactly where you are.
But I get two to one you'll make it back to the bar.

Chorus

It's getting late, the sun's going down,
Your head's feeling heavy, you're beginning to drown.
You get up to go, you smile to a friend:
You both know next Sunday you'll be doing it again.

Chorus
